Our therapy services for children and young people are clinically evaluated against national standards through Routine Outcome Measure and are analysed and reported quarterly, enabling us not only to benchmark against national services but also to understand the effectiveness of different therapies.

We also partner with academic institutions such as the Universities of Exeter and Plymouth to help improve our practie and extend the knowledge of the effectiveness of counselling and therapy more broadly.

We have recently published the first academic paper of its kind that compares the effectiveness of different therapies in supporting children and young people impacted by abuse. This uses clinical data from 5 years of delivering a range of therapies for children and young people from 0-18. Our academic papers and research reports are available here

We are working with the University of Plymouth to develop our evaluation programme for adult therapy and on measuring our overall social impact as an all-age service. More information about this work is available here

Our coproduction group, CLEAR Ideas received a research grant from the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) to put together a qualitative feedback questionnaire for children and young people. ‘It’s hard to put into words’ was clinically trialled, written up and presented at the BACP conference. It has since been peer reviewed and published in the BACP journal.
